About
Dr. Priyanthi Rathnayake graduated with an MBBS degree with honours in 2006 from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka. She later completed her MD in Anaesthesiology Part 1A at the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo, in 2014.
With more than 18 years of experience in the medical field, she has worked in both Sri Lanka and Australia. She gained a wide range of experience while working at Rockhampton Hospital in Queensland, where she trained in various specialties, including Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, and Orthopaedics. After completing her Australian Medical Council exams, she became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).
Dr. Priyanthi has a particular interest in Women’s health and pregnancy care, Contraception, including Implanon insertion and removal, PAP smears, Paediatric care, Mental health, Chronic disease management.
She enjoys general practice for its variety and the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with her patients. She believes that a GP is a lifelong partner in a patient’s healthcare journey, and building a relationship based on trust and understanding is essential to providing the best care.
